About this
Exercise is an activity. Capacity is the underlying ability to meet the demands of life and movement. Confusing the two leads to training that is busy but not purposeful.
The video uses everyday examples to show how the same exercise can build very different capacities depending on how it is performed.
Key ideas
Exercise is the tool; capacity is the outcome.
The same exercise can serve different purposes.
Ask what an exercise is for before asking how hard it is.
Relate
A hammer is not a house. It is how the hammer is used that builds something.
Try this
Choose one exercise you know and name the capacity it is meant to develop.
Reflect
Which of your current habits is exercise, and which is capacity?
